The Molecules Stem Cells Leave Behind
THE LONGEVITY EDIT
Shop Cell FortéThe molecules stem cells leave behind may matter more than the cells themselves.
A quiet shift is reshaping anti-aging skincare — and one $325 serum is built entirely around it.
For two decades, “stem cells” was skincare’s most overused phrase — and one of its most misunderstood. The newest science points somewhere more specific, and more useful: not the cells, but the signals they release. It is the idea behind a category called regenerative skincare, and behind Angela Caglia’s Cell Forté Serum.
The breakthrough was never the stem cells. It’s their “conditioned media.”
When researchers studied why stem cells help skin, they found something counterintuitive: most of the benefit doesn’t come from the cells. It comes from what they secrete — a fluid rich in proteins, peptides, growth factors and exosomes called conditioned media. One landmark review estimated that up to 80% of stem cells’ therapeutic value comes from this paracrine signaling rather than the cells dividing. (Maguire, 2013) Cell Forté is built from that secretion — human stem cell-derived conditioned media. Not the cells. The molecules they make.
Those fragile signals can survive in a bottle.
The obvious objection: exosomes are delicate — would they last in a topical formula? In 2025, a peer-reviewed analysis found formulated exosomes kept their intact spherical structure (~150nm) and signature surface proteins (CD9, CD63, CD81) after formulation — the first study to confirm topical exosome stability. (Kadoya et al., 2025, Dermatologic Surgery) Cell Forté’s conditioned media is produced in a cGMP laboratory and kept DNA-free and cell-free. The signal, stabilized.
The ingredient science is peer-reviewed — not marketing copy.
This isn’t a single hopeful study. Human adipose-derived stem cell conditioned media has been examined in independent, peer-reviewed research: a 4-week randomized controlled trial reported improvements in hydration, barrier and the appearance of pigmentation and wrinkle depth versus placebo (Kim et al., 2020); a split-face study found the conditioned-media side showed greater improvement in the look of wrinkles and pigmentation after laser (Lee et al., 2021); and further work documented calmer, faster barrier recovery (Ahn et al., 2023).
Research is on the ingredient category, not the finished Cell Forté formula. It supports the science behind the serum; it is not a claim that the serum reproduces these clinical outcomes.
Women felt the difference in 28 days — gently.
In an independent 28-day consumer perception study, 90% of women said their skin looked more youthful and 87% said it gained luminosity. Just as telling for a potent active: 100% said skin felt healthy, 97% said it did not irritate, and there were zero adverse reactions. Powerful and calm is a hard combination — it’s why the formula suits even post-procedure skin.
One bottle does the work of four serums.
Most regimens layer a vitamin C, a retinol, a hyaluronic acid and a peptide serum to chase brightness, firmness, hydration and smoothing. Cell Forté is formulated as a single step that addresses all four — a silky, fast-absorbing serum suitable for all skin types. Fewer products, less irritation, one ritual that takes two minutes morning and night.
Not stem cells. The molecules they make.
SignalSource™ is Angela Caglia’s proprietary approach to capturing the signaling molecules stem cells secrete — the proteins, peptides and exosomes of human conditioned media — and stabilizing them in a topical serum.

“I spent years in Paris studios and treatment rooms with clients who had tried everything. They kept asking the question I was asking: why doesn’t skincare work with the skin’s own biology? Cell Forté is my answer — built from the signal, not the hype.”

Is it actually stem cells in the bottle?
No — and that’s the point. Cell Forté contains human stem cell-derived conditioned media: the proteins, peptides and exosomes stem cells secrete. It’s cell-free and DNA-free. You’re getting the signal, not the cell.
Why is it more expensive than my current serum?
It’s formulated to do the work of four — vitamin C, retinol, hyaluronic acid and peptides — in one cGMP-manufactured, small-batch step. For many women it replaces several products at once.
Is it safe for sensitive or post-procedure skin?
In the 28-day study, 97% said it did not irritate and there were zero adverse reactions. It’s fragrance- and dye-free with a 100/100 Yuka clean score. As with any new product, patch test first.
When will I see a difference?
The consumer perception study ran over 28 days of twice-daily use. Individual results vary.
